Join our 5-day survival and climbing adventure camp, where you'll test your skills in the wild. Learn vital survival techniques like first aid, shelter building, fishing, fire-starting, plant ID, and navigation, while learning rock climbing and rappelling on varied terrain. You'll face thrilling challenges, develop teamwork, and learn skills needed to survive in the wild! Whether you're a beginner or seasoned climber, this camp offers an unforgettable, hands-on wilderness experience. No prior experience is required, all technical gear provided including camping and climbing gear.

Monday, Day 1:   Wood Carving and Fishing

Location: Riverview and North Park

  • The day starts with a team-building activity and group discussions. Participants will learn bow drilling techniques and carve bows using youth safe knives. After lunch, we will go Fishing at North Park. The day ends with a brief Leave No Trace (LNT) lesson and a drive back home to Pittsburgh. 

Tuesday, Day 2: Foraging, First Aid, and Bouldering

Location: Schenley and Boyce Park

  • We begin the day by traveling to Schenley, where participants are introduced to basic outdoor knot-tying. A park ranger then leads the group on a guided foraging walk, helping students discover local edible plants and learn about the surrounding ecosystem. After lunch, the group heads to Boyce Park for an afternoon of exploring the park’s natural features and climbing at Boyce's boulder park, giving students a chance to learn or expand on their climbing skills. The day ends with the return trip for pickup.

Wednesday, Day 3:  Fire and Shelter Building

Location: Raccoon Creek State Park

  • The group starts the morning with a trip to Raccoon Creek State Park, where they warm up with a short hike through the Mineral Springs area, taking in the scenery and learning about the landscape. From there, they continue to a rustic campsite to practice fire-building skills and enjoy lunch cooked over the fire. The afternoon is spent working together on a shelter-building activity, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving using natural materials. The day ends with the return trip for pickup.

Thursday, Day 4:  Outdoor Climbing & Rappelling, Expedition Day!

Location: Ohiopyle, PA  

  • Ohiopyle Expedition day! This day involves hiking, climbing, and rappelling in Ohiopyle State Park. After hiking in, participants will enjoy an outdoor climbing session, followed by lunch at Cascade Falls. In the afternoon, they will learn rappelling techniques and hike back out to camp. The evening is spent setting up camp, learning camp stove cooking, eating dinner, cleaning up, and opportunity for showering. The night concludes with fire-building and games before bed. 

Friday, Day 5: Wrap Up

Location: Ohiopyle, PA to Pittsburgh,PA

  • After breakfast and packing up camp in the morning, we will make the drive back to Pittsburgh and debrief camp! Camp ends at 12pm on Friday.
